The 2025 AFCON will be the 35th edition of the biennial continental tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
Qualifying for the tournament will take place in three ‘blocks’ in September (Matchday 1 & 2), October (Matchday 3 & 4) and November (Matchday 5 & 6) of 2024. The top two teams in each qualifying group will advance to the AFCON tournament.
Matchday 1 and 2 fixtures are taking place from Wednesday 4 September to Tuesday 10 September 2024.
LIVE UPDATES:

Bafana’s growing pressure finally pays dividends, with Lyle Foster hitting the post, but Appollis latches onto the rebound, keeps his cool and strokes home a low shot to see the visitors into the lead for the first time.
15:48 – South Sudan 1-1 South Africa. Bafana agonisingly close to a second goal, with Thapelo Morena seeing a shot blocked by a defender on the goal line – with more than a hint of hand-ball – and he then hits the rebound onto the crossbar!
15h43 – Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria: Victor Boniface comes agonisingly close to opening the scoring after a shot inside the area struck the crossbar. In looking to follow up with a header toward goal, Ademola Lookman fails to generate enough power behind his effort which has been cleared away with ease.
15:37 – South Sudan 1-1 South Africa. Teboho Mokoena misses a great chance to give the visitors the lead and it remains 1-1 in Juba.
15h29 – Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria: Nigeria are beginning to show more dominance on the ball with Rwanda falling deeper into their own half as result of the constant pressure by the Super Eagles.
15:20 – Goal! South Sudan 1-1 South Africa. Bafana Bafana strike back immediately through a well-taken goal from Oswin Appollis!
15h19 – Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria: The possession count has been evenly shared during the first 15 minutes of the match, while both sides were presented with a couple of goal scoring opportunities in the process.
